About VIDO
VIDO is Canada’s Centre for Pandemic Research and a global leader in infectious disease research and vaccine development for both humans and animals. Based at the University of Saskatchewan, we operate one of the world’s most advanced containment facilities. We are expanding our infrastructure to include a Containment Level 4 lab, a GMP vaccine manufacturing facility, and new animal housing to support our One Health approach to combating emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
 
About the Role
As a Vaccine Development Project Manager, you will coordinate scientific projects from proof-of-concept through to commercialization or out-licensing. You will work closely with Principal Investigators, technicians, veterinarians, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with scientific integrity.

You have:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an academic or industry setting.
  • A passion for building relationships and working collaboratively.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A strong understanding of protein expression and purification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage vaccine development projects from early-stage research to commercialization.
  • Collaborate on funding proposals and manage project budgets and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Support regulatory and ethics submissions, including clinical trial protocols and Quality Overall Summaries.
  • Oversee animal study logistics, including scheduling, protocol approvals, and animal welfare.
  • Contribute to scientific reporting, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Facilitate technology transfer to GMP manufacturing.
  • Report project status and outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
Experience:
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, ideally in vaccine development.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology, immunology, virology, and/or animal models.
  • Experience or a solid understanding of protein expression and purification techniques—such as bioreactor cultures or chromatography—is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials and regulatory processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with funding agencies and client relations is an asset.
Certifications:
  • PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

Status: Permanent

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week)
